Theme Song
an excerpt from
Anecdotes from the Western Bubble
by
Thoreau Lovell
Crossing the bay this morning, I heard monks singing the Monkees theme song on the radio.
God is great.
But music’s pretty good too.
Right now I’d put my money on beer and baseball, on old wood and low-fi audio.
Just the right amount of feedback, and I’m off—like the dude in black and orange cheering the leadoff double, top of the fourth.
I hope you win, my team: a victory that never mattered, but which I feel like I need.
Lean toward the center of the circle, beer lovers; cheer like this moment
is
great, like losing
isn’t
an option—even if there’s a lot of game to go—and another game tomorrow—and many more after that.
